Halfwood Press Book Club
One-hundred Premier Edition soft-cover books, written by artist and press-maker Bill Ritchie (as Harris Sweed), were printed. He calls it a "mockumentary dynastorybook" and in it tells how he designed and made etching presses out of wood and steel, then sold them to thirty people. Into this story he weaves descriptions of a game he made up: Emeralda. You see the Halfwood Press becoming a key piece in play. The payoff is his long-held dream: Perfect Studios.

What is the "Art of Selling Art"? Since I am an artist, I wrote this book for the artist who wants to sell his or her own works of art, crafts and design - a book on the basics of selling which is adapted to some artists' dilemmas. I subtitled, my book, Between Production and Livelihood, telling ways an artist can balance productivity with making a living. Practicing on myself what I read and what I wrote, I got better at balancing producing artworks and selling artworks, living between two worlds. It seems artists, crafts people and designers are always between two worlds, one that is dying and one that is trying to be born. You can still buy this book, and if you are a user of Kindle--Amazon's new digital reader, look for it there, too.
